waiting for the riGhT mentor in law…

In some traditions, the right teachers find you when you least expect them, leaving you with wisdom you carry into your next chapter.

I recently had a conversation with Associate Judges of the Superior Court that made me rethink what I’ve been looking for in a mentor.

As I wrap up my networking events and coffee chats for the season, this conversation felt like the final piece of wisdom I didn’t realise I’d been missing. I’d spent so long thinking I had it all figured out. Turns out, I was confidently wrong. Still am, probably.

Siddhartha was never the obvious or polished Buddha, but a seeker who never presumed to have all the answers.

I recently had a conversation with Associate Judges of the Superior Court that made me rethink what I’ve been looking for in a career mentor. I’ve been fortunate to have good role models in my life, but finding that same guidance in my career has been a journey of its own.

It’s taken me a while to realise that I wasn’t just looking for someone to show me the way, but someone who would challenge how I see it. Someone who stands as firmly in their principles as the justice system I’ve been privileged to be a part of.

I found her, again.
